The fog is slowly lifting - Update

I shared a bit of an update on my other blog so i thought i'd update here as well. Since I my check up in Paris last October, I have been existing in a fog. Not living, but simply existing making it from one day to the next. For the past 9 months I have been suffering from headaches and dizzy spells and extreme exhaustion (wake up exhausted, drag myself through my day, nap and drop into a coma like sleep at night). I tried every thing, I changed my diet, cut out Gluten completely, i took my vitamin supplements religiously, i tried exercise. Nothing helped. My Physician sent me to do every test imaginable, we were able to quickly rule out Brain tumor or aneurysm, but none of the treatments he tried helped. I had so much blood drawn ( my Iron was back to acceptable levels), i did an MRI and a CT Scan, then finally I was sent to the cardiologist to check my heart (everything is A-OK there) and monitor my Blood Pressure for 24 hours and after an awkward 24 hours especially...

Thoughts

(Google image) Sometimes this is just how I feel. There are days when I just wish I didn't have to be careful of what I eat, That i can have a glass of champagne to celebrate with a loved one without my pancreas hurting the next day. I sometimes wish I didn't have remember to take my meds (or pay for it dearly later), I wish that I can do strenuous physical activity without having to think twice. Although I don't presently have Cancer, it's never far from my mind. The other night as I was changing for bed, I'd had pain on my left side all afternoon, I chalked it up to regular post Whipple digestion issues, and knew that if I waited it out eventually the pain would go away once the food was digested. So back to me getting ready for bed.... I look down at my abdomen and realize that same painful area is now swollen, noticeably so! Now what do I do? Well it was almost midnight and short of going to the ER there was nothing I could do. The next day the swelling...

4 years Post-Op today!

Today is the 4th Anniversary of my Whipple! Four years ago i couldn't fathom still being here. Yet here I am! I can't say yet that I'm totally healthy or that every stomach flu doesn't immediately make me think of the worst. Such things take time i know. But as of my last CT scans and blood work in December 2008, I'm proud to say that I'm healthy! I've even gained weight! To look at me you'd never guess i was ill a day in my life. I still have stomach issues, now and then. I'm prone to stomach viruses apparently and some stuff are just a no-no, like to much greasy foods, they might taste great but are hell on the other end. One big physical hurdle I have overcome is the weigh issue. After loosing weigh uncontrollably for so long and then being stable fro a least a year now I'm actually gaining weigh like a normal person. Every silver lining comes with it's own grey cloud, now i actualy have to exercise to maintain my weigh. lol! One big ment...
