6 Month check up

I did my 6 month check up from my brothers bedside. I was going to push it off once again but i wasn't feeling well and my getting ill would not help him. Stomach pains after each meals, cold sweats, head spinning, feeling like throwing up but never getting to that point, among other things

My blood work showed that my amylasemie continue to rise, 3rd blood test now it's steadily rising. Damn. And my Scanner showed possible chronic pancreitis. Double Damn.

So i came home to my GP as i didn't have my 5" thick medical file with me. He took one look at the results and referred me to the gastro-entorologist. Who granted me an emergency appointment as i was to fly back to my brother's bedside (and relieve my mom) in a coupe days.

He looked at everything, suggested that i have 5 smaller meals, avoid rice for a while and take the meds he and my GP prescribed (5 days). He's sending me to do a glucose test. I'll have to go to the lab several times in one day before and after meals to have my blood sugar tested.

The results of that test and whether or not i feel better that will determine the next step.

He may have to go in with a camera to see what else is going on.

I ask "Doc what do you think?" his response "i'm not worried" Well if he's not worried then i feel a whole lot better about it all.

I looked up chronic pancreitis on the net (never a good move when will i learn) and then asked my GP what could be the outcome be he said best case scenario they adjust my meds, worse case scenario i go under the knife again. The specialist wants to see how i react to the 5 day treatment he and the GP prescribed.

I should know more mid week next week.

Didn't pass this one with flying colors. Four years in and the 6month check up still scare the bejesus out of me especially when it's not all good.

Keeping fingers crossed I'm not diabetic or having a chronic case of pancreitis.

The rollacoaster ride continues....

Glad o hear you are doing ok still - hope all the tests sort themselves out ok - my last scan was clear, though my CA19-9 and glucose are rising - I have impaired glucose tolerance as my pancreas is only 50% of what it was, so need to see a diabetologist to see what happens next - don't fall in the type 1/2 diabetes slots as it is not caused by the typical problem assoicated with diabetes - see him in a couple of weeks! Hang in there - I am coping well on the whole, but trying to keep positive is hard at times - hearing about poor Patrick Swayze was bit of a downer - diagnosed after me and now gone - feel all mixed up - partly guilty partly scared, partly excited that so far it is staying away, then you remember the stats and it all goes pearshaped!
Hang in there - it's the waiting that is so hard most of the time between tests etc...
